Dr Ryan Protzko

Ryan Protzko, PhD is President and co-founder of Kanna Health. He leads the company’s early stage drug discovery and intellectual property activities. An avid experimentalist and innovator, Ryan is the primary inventor on the company’s foundational intellectual property. Previous to Kanna Health, Ryan founded New Atlas Biotechnologies, Inc, a small molecule drug discovery platform developing biologically-inspired drugs for CNS applications. He also co-founded Zestbio, a synthetic biology platform for derivatizing agricultural side-streams into chemical products.

Ryan is a current Visiting Scholar in the UC Berkeley Department of Bioengineering and Activate Entrepreneurial Fellow with the US Department of Energy Advanced Manufacturing Office. Ryan earned his doctorate in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, with a focus in Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology.
